Skin can be the target organ of B-cell mediated autoimmune disease and also the primary site of B-cell lymphomagenesis. B-cell lymphomas tat Primary cutaneous B-cell lymphomas (CBCL) a heterogeneous group of lymphomas that primary originate in skin. Studies from our group, and others, characterized three groups of CBCL including primary cutaneous marginal zone B-cell lymphomas, primary cutaneous follicle centre lymphomas and primary cutaneous lymphomas, leg type, that have now been incorporated in the WHO classification of tumours of haematopoietic and lymphoid tissues. We initiated international collaborative studies that have resulted in recommended staging procedures and consensus treatment recommendations for different CBCL subtypes. The progress in CBCL classification has enabled molecular studies on well-defined groups of patients. Recent studies are aimed at translating insight from these molecular studies in CBCL into clinical care including the identification of targets amenable for therapeutic targeting. Recently we started a specialized clinic for immunobullous diseases that runs in close liaison with the specialised diagnostic laboratory at the dermatology department in Groningen.
